A Western Buddhist's Travels

Sightseeing & detours on the path of enlightenment

Daily Prompt: INTJ

Do parties and crowds fill you with energy, or send you scurrying for peace and quiet?

I have been guilty of both, it depends on f I’m hosting or a guest.

As a host, I try to spend time with each of my guests, and see that they meet all the other guests. Ok there have been times where I cheated and used a game to get people meeting each other. Also breaking couples up at the dinner table with name cards at each place setting. However once the party is going, I tend to go with the flow, while still keeping an eye on things.

As a guest, I will mingle at the start and try to greet old friends, and introduce myself to anyone I don’t know. However if a conversation starts to head for the deep end, I am quite willing to see what ground we can cover. Sometimes you get that one chance to discuss something with someone knowledgeable, and if you don’t take advantage, the opportunity will have passed you by. I once took advantage the opportunity to chat with one of my favorite science fiction authors, and I am glad I took that opportunity as it hasn’t happened since.
