International Day of Peace

It’s September 21st, which means it’s International Peace Day. Also called World Peace Day by some.  Lets start off with the UN Secretary Genral’s address on this day. The link has a video as well as the transcript.

For a little more on this from the United Nations :

From last year, some words from the Dalai Lama Center, This years will be posted sometime during the night for me,

The Pope just finished a trip to the Middle East, where he prayed for peace and religious freedom, and to show peace is a common wish, I’ll link the article from a Hindu publication.

Regardless of what path you follow, take some time to day and reflect on peace. Start with yourself. For when we are at peace with who we are, we can be peaceful towards others. “Peace comes from within. Do not seek it without.” The Buddha

Next concentrate on peace with those around you, is there anyone who you are not at peace with. Take the time to make peace today, you will both feel better. “Better than a thousand hollow words, is one word that brings peace.” The Buddha

Now extend that peace to all beings, in a prayer, meditation, or other spiritual practice. If we can make one day peaceful, then we can make two days, and so on. However it starts from within all of us, so will you join with the rest of humanity and work for peace today?
