A Western Buddhist's Travels

Sightseeing & detours on the path of enlightenment

Your being watched and tracked

You probably already know every click on the net is recorded by someone, but have you ever wondered who? Perhaps you want a little more privacy or are just tired of seeing ads about weight loss products, ever since you searched diets on Google 2 years ago. Well here’s a little tip, you can take back control for free, yup no money down and no monthly fee. You can then choose which sites you will allow tracking from, so you might set it so a blog on WordPress allows tracking, but Idontknowwhoyouare.com gets the full block. The main point is it gives back control to you, just remember that ads help pay for a lot of the services we enjoy, so take the Buddhist approach and choose the middle path. Don’t block everything, but at the same time don’t keep allowing everyone to track you, find the middle ground you feel comfortable with.

Also remember when you signed up for allowing search engines to crawl around your blog, to bring those viewers in, they need access to your site. So Google and Bing analytics are good guys in this case.

There are 3 categories, Social Networks, ad networks and companies tracking you. You can choose who and where. So here’s the link:
