Teachers who inspired me: Mother Teresa
The next teacher is one who left us almost 15 years ago. Her title was the same as many other women around the world have carried, do carry and will carry in the future. She was a nun, she was also called Mother Teresa. Born in Albania, she made her mark on the world serving the poor in India. “By blood, I am Albanian. By citizenship, an Indian. By faith, I am a Catholic nun. As to my calling, I belong to the world. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the Heart of Jesus.” from Wikipedia article on her life. One of the things that struck me is she always said her calling was to the world, not to the poor, nor the rich, not to just India, and not just to Catholics. When asked what people could do to help promote world peace, her response was to go home and love your families. She focused on reliving the suffering of the slums, and she had her critics. Was she perfect, no she was human like the rest of us, however she made the effort day and day out.
