A hockey coach has words of wisdom
Reading the newspaper today, I read an interview with Tom Renney who after 3 seasons with the Edmonton Oilers hockey team was recently let go as head coach. He had nothing bad to say about the organization. He mentioned regrets about not being there to see the rebuild of the team, accomplish its goal of winning the Stanley Cup. He mentioned wondering if things would have been different, if certain things hadn’t happened, such as getting a concussion from being hit by a puck. He made a comment “A clear conscience makes for a soft pillow”. I do not know what belief system he follows, but this is a statement that could guide anyone. How many times have we tossed and turned at night over something we said, or did, or neglected to do that day. If we always think before we speak, plan before we act, then if we not only talk the talk, but also walk the walk, at the end of the day we will find soft pillows a lot more often.
