Another brick or two removed

Occasionally I have struggles with procrastination. My dad used to tell me it was like trying to get to the otherwise of a large brick wall that is too wide to go around, and to high to climb over, without lots of help. He then told me to write down three things every evening, that I had on my to do list, that I could do the next morning after breakfast. Before you think, oh thats easy, if I had dishes left after breakfast, I couldn’t list it more than once. It wasn’t about getting the daily chores done. He said I could think of it as removing 3 bricks from the wall, so not enough to get through right away. Also the wall wash fairly thick, somewhat like the Great Wall in China. However if I applied myself, it would be doable. By the time I broke through enough to get to the other side, I had weakened my tendency to procrastinate. Every few years I need to face the wall again, and it seems my visits are a little less frequent than when I first used this technique. So made my list of three tasks for tommorrow morning, and just because I can’t leave the dishes, I have them all done, so will only have a couple of new ones in the morning.
