A Western Buddhist's Travels

Sightseeing & detours on the path of enlightenment

The little actions mean so much

Regardless of whether, you are in a relationship or not, doing the little, and  over looked things can bring a smile to someones day. If your spouse always makes the morning coffee for the two of you, surprise them and make it. If you can’t hit the laundry basket at five feet, not only pick up the item off the floor, but quickly sort the whites from the colors, put all the towels together. Even if you don’t get it perfect, they will appreciate the gesture. If you have children of school age, and they have a school play or some other event, be there smile and take lots of pictures, then afterwards the whole family can eat a meal together, while the proud student tells you all about it. If you have gotten out of the habit of saying your “please and thank yous” practice them again. Going through a door in a public building,  if someone is following but the door will be half closed before they reach it, pause for a second or two and hold it open. Driving your stopped in that usual traffic jam, and there is a person trying to pull away fro the curb, it ill only take a few seconds to let them in to the flow. My point is there are many little things we can do that will bring some happiness to others, why not put a little joy into the world today, you just might find yourself in a better mood by the end of the day.
