Looking in the mirror

Almost all of us have a mirror we see everyday, usually in the bathroom. What do you see when you catch that first glimpse of yourself. Eyes half ope, and bloodshot from lack of sleep, teeth that aren’t pearly white, perhaps a hairdo that is best described as a limp mop? If your past your teenage years, look a little closer, around you eyes for starters. Are those laugh lines, or frown lines developing around your eyes? Everyone of us will get wrinkles and age spots at some time. Plastic surgery can hide the signs, but the effects of time are still there. For the ladies makeup can disguise these, however too much and you look like a cake that was stuck to the pan. Besides that first look in the mirror for males or females, that’s the you your spouse sees every morning. If they still kiss you every morning and call you beautiful, it is not a sign they need to see the eye doctor. It is a sign you need to show some compassion to yourself, if you disagree with them. For appearances may have brought the two of you together, but it was something deeper that caused you to choose each other as partners. So when you are looking in the mirror, say good morning beautiful or good morning handsome to yourself. Think compassionate and loving thoughts about yourself, well your at it give yourself a smile, come on a real smile. If everyday you give yourself a cheerful good morning, a smile and some warm fuzzy thoughts, as they would say today(The Buddha said loving and compassionate thoughts), you should soon find you start your days off a bit more cheerful.
