Today’s entry is inspired by: http://www.turningforward.org/documents/Tho-Buddhismandconflictresolution.pdf The author Ha Vinh Tho presents an excellent thoughtful article on peace, based on Buddhist principles. I recommend reading it, as I will give you a brief review.
UNESCO’s mission is to contribute to the building of peace, the eradication of poverty, sustainable development and intercultural dialogue through education, the sciences, culture, communication and information.
The charter that defines UNESCO opens with “Since wars begin in the human mind, it is in the mind that peace must be defended and constructed.”
If we find peace in our own minds, then we shall have peace with our brothers and sisters. Once we have peace with our brothers and sisters, then peace with all mankind is possible. Once peace among men is achieved, then surely we will extend this peace to all living beings.
