Chanting as meditation

Buddhist use three forms of meditation, silent, walking and chanting. Chanting a mantra is a way to release the energy that is contained with in its words. Also by chanting it helps us to learn a mantra or sutra. One of the common ones that people chant is the medicine sutra, which has a long form three times, followed by a short form repeated 21 times.

(long form)

Namo bhagavate bhaisajyaguru-vaidurya
prabha-rajaya tathagataya arhate samyak-
sambuddhaya tadyatha. Om bhaisajye
bhaisajye bhaisajya-samudgate svaha!

(Short form)

Om bhaisajye
bhaisajye bhaisajya-samudgate svaha!

Chanting is energy and has been said to change the way we feel and think. Until the last few decades western medicine scoffed at the idea sound coul influence our physical state. Here is one medical study:
