Daily Prompt: Silver Screen
Take a quote from your favorite movie — there’s the title of your post. Now, write!
“People find it far easier to forgive others for being wrong than being right.”
Ok, time to have a bit of fun with this one. I gave you the quote, now I’ll make you wait till the end of the post, to find out the movie, and the character who said the line.
Have you ever noticed this with people who are mad at you, that people are willing to accept your flaws more readily. Is it because it allows us to feel superior to the other? It doesn’t matter what the flaw is, most of us have one or more flaws we are working on, so we are all walking the same path, just at different points in the journey we call this life. So here are some quotes to encourage all of us to be more tolerant and accepting.
“Love isn’t a state of perfect caring. It is an active noun, like struggle. To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way he or she is, right here and now.” Fred Rogers
“If your number one goal is to make sure that everyone likes and approves of you, then you risk sacrificing your uniqueness, and, therefore, your excellence.” Unknown author. Quote found on tinybuddha.com
“Do not overrate what you have received, nor envy others. He who envies others does not obtain peace of mind.” The Buddha
“You will not be punished for your anger; you will be punished by your anger” The Buddha
“A friend is one that knows you as you are, understands where you have been, accepts what you have become, and still, gently allows you to grow.” William Shakespeare
“A friend is someone who knows all about you and loves you just the same” E. Hubbard
The next time you find yourself being mad, upset, or annoyed by someone for being right, instead rejoice in learning something, and thank them for being your teacher. Developing an attitude of gratitude will make you someone people will enjoy having around regardless of the circumstances.
