Daily Prompt: Oasis

My oasis isn’t a specific place, however the places I choose all share certain traits or qualities.
In Edmonton, it was the North Saskatchewan River Valley, and the wondeful trail system. Summer meant hiking or cycling, while winter was hiking or skating. In Vancouver it is the Sun Yet Sen Gardens, the seawall and the International Buddhist Temple Gardens. Calgary was walking along the river or Prince’s Island. When work or a holiday has lead me to other places, I try to fin places to call an oasis.
My oasis is one that is within easy walking distance, or close to public transit. It has some areas that are busy with people, and others where you feel like your the only one there. They also are places where nature abounds, either as a natural park or a public garden. The fresh air, seeing the animals, catching the scent of the flowers, touches an inner chord. This chord is part of nature’s melody, and to hear it we need to slow down, be quiet and just be one with the moment. By learning to do this, it has allowed me to feel at home regardless of where I am. To always have a place where I can reconnect with my inner self.
I hope you all have a place you can visit to remind yourself of the important things in your life.
