Daily Prompt: Play Lexicographer
I am going to submit the word I posted yesterday in my article, re-geek. In trying to create this term, I tried several words, however found them when I searched the internet, the term re-geek came back with no results, hence why I choose it.
I wanted a term to define a person who adopted new technology that was useful, while not chasing every trend that came along. A person who upgraded when it made sense, and then either sold, or gifted their old device to someone who could use it. Avoiding the drawer full of obsolete electronics, many people have acquired. Finally they are a person who, ensures their end of life devices are properly recycled, so as to recover those rare metals that are scarce and already costing over $800,000 CDN/ton.
Being a Buddhist and doing my best to respect all beings right to happiness, means making ethical choices in my purchases. I know many people of other faiths or paths who also do the same, so it is becoming more common, regardless of race, creed or religion. Also the environmentalist in me, makes me think of the concept: reduce, reuse, and recycle. Yet the idea that technology properly used can alleviate suffering, is also part of my world view, hence coining the term re-geek. A person who while advocating technological advances, also considers the environmental impacts of their purchases, or upgrades to existing devices, and ensures old devices are properly reused or recycled.

I like your word… It sounds great and the meaning of it is noble.
Thanks, was trying for a single word to mean a complex person, one who considered the implications of their actions, and the resulting implications of those implications.
